In 1984, inspired by some adventurous friends, motivated by the thought of a year of who knows what, bolstered by a bit of ignorance and stupidity I took off to Asia, backpacking… alone.
Textiles had always been my interest and through that I found a fabulous purpose and direction for my travel. I had planned to go to Europe but in the end couldn’t see the point after discovering the ‘El Dorado’ of my textile passion.
I didn’t have a camera, so where ever possible I bought postcards. I kept a diary and until now have never re-read it … so 28 years on, these are some of the things I have found at the Back of the Bottom Draw.
